Our Story.

The long version of what we are, and why.

The problem, honestly.

Every Malaysian SME owner has faced this:

The poster that looks fine but doesn't feel right. The template that saves time but kills the brand. The designer who charges too much, takes too long, or doesn't understand the market well enough to get it right the first time.

You're stuck choosing between three bad options.

The agency route — beautiful work, but RM3,000–5,000 a month is unrealistic when you're moving RM15,000 in sales and trying to grow.

The freelancer route — affordable when you find the right person, but the right person is hard to find, slow to brief, and sometimes disappears mid-project.

The DIY tool route — Canva, Fotor, the rest. Fast and cheap, but your poster looks like everyone else's poster. The template is the brand, not your brand.

There's a missing middle. That's where Rekakita Studio lives.

What we built.

Rekakita Studio is a boutique studio of ten specialist designers, each trained in a distinct craft:

  • Boss Wangdesigns the e-commerce promo posters that make people stop scrolling on Shopee.
  • Rinashoots products like they're being photographed for a magazine.
  • Rizmakes announcements that people actually read.
  • Léabrings Parisian atelier polish to luxury brands and premium wellness.
  • Maestro Lucapaints in oil — literally, stylistically. For heritage brands that want to feel timeless.
  • Kiraworks after hours in neon-soaked Neo-Tokyo. Cyberpunk for the brands that need it.
  • Hanaunderstands restraint. Japanese fresh aesthetic for cafes, bakeries, and anyone selling calm.
  • Poppythinks design should be fun. Pop art, halftone dots, playful imperfection.
  • Madam Yundesigns in ink and cinnabar red. Chinese heritage motifs with modern confidence.
  • Meibridges old and new. 新中式 for tea brands, jamu, modern heritage F&B.

You don't hire the whole studio. You pick the one specialist whose craft fits your brand. You send a product photo and a brief on WhatsApp. Within 24 hours, they deliver 2 professional poster variants. You pick the one you love. You post it. You sell.

Simple as that.

What makes it work.

A few things we've figured out that we care about:

We don't revise. Each design comes as 2 finished variants. Not sketches, not drafts — finished. If neither works, use your next slot. This sounds strange at first, but it's what lets us move fast, keep quality high, and offer design for RM299 a month instead of RM3,000.

We work in your language. English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese. Your posters speak to your customers the way your customers speak to each other.

We never invent things. If a price isn't on your label, it doesn't go on the poster. If a claim isn't one you've made, we won't put it in your mouth. This protects you from advertising compliance issues and keeps your brand honest.

We work over WhatsApp. No forms. No dashboards. No onboarding calls. Just a conversation, like you're briefing a friend who designs.

We're deliberately small. We serve Malaysian SMEs. We don't chase multinational accounts. We don't pretend to do video, or logos, or websites. We do posters. We do them well.

Who's behind this.

Rekakita Studio is operated by CM, a founder based in Penang, Malaysia.

The studio exists because the founder kept running into the same gap — working with Malaysian brands that deserved better design than they could afford, and couldn't find a studio that understood both the language and the economics.

So instead of writing about the gap, we built a studio to fill it.

We launched in 2026. We're not backed by investors. We're not trying to scale to a thousand employees. We're trying to do beautiful, consistent work for Malaysian brands, one specialist at a time.

What we believe.

A few things worth putting down on paper.

Good design shouldn't be a luxury. Every Malaysian brand — the ten-year-old beauty shop, the new jamu startup, the family supplement business — deserves work that takes itself seriously. RM299 a month is what "affordable" should mean, not "compromised."

Specialists beat generalists. A designer who does five different styles does none of them well. Ten specialists, each excellent at their one thing, produce better work than one person pretending to do ten.

Craft is quiet. You won't see us shouting. We don't do loud marketing. Our posters speak for themselves. Our design does the selling, not our ads.

Malaysian brands have their own story to tell. We're not imitating Western aesthetics or chasing trends. Our designers draw from the full richness of Malaysian visual culture — batik palettes, Chinese ink traditions, Malay restraint, modern commerce — and give you work that feels like it belongs here.

How to work with us.

If any of this resonates — start on WhatsApp.

Send us a product photo and a few words about what you need. We'll reply, we'll ask a few clarifying questions if needed, and we'll start designing.

Your first design is free. No credit card, no commitment. See the work before you subscribe.

When you're ready, the studio is here.
